A Mother's Love

Happy New Year birdies!!!!

Our first blog of 2011!

I've wanted to be a mother for as long as I can remember. Some days, I believe God allows me, honestly I know this will sound crazy, but I believe He allows me to numb that desire so that I can DEAL!

But, in the meantime, He allows me to see the sparks that are parental love. The kind of love that can be splattered with all sorts of things as that child grows, but what lovely splatters it is when you look back on things!

I remember moving out of the house on Mother's day from my Mom's. I needed a change. I was frustrated. I was torn. I was.a.confused.teenager. But, through that move, I realized that absense does make the heart fonder. My Mom and I are now, praise be to God, back to where we should be, where it's comfortable, beautiful, lovely, and sparkly.

I love my Mama. I know she loves me. I thank God for growing her in seasons that she couldn't even fathom being possible even a few weeks ago. God truly does work in mysterious ways. He truly does have people in our lives for seasons, but our parents-they should never be seasonal.

Sure there are different scenarios...adoptions, long distance relationships, grandparents stepping up into missing spots, but through these variances spring forth amazing formations. I thank God for placing the right people in my life at the right time.

My friend and "kinfolk" Amy is getting her baby back after he's been in Florida for a while. BOAW was blessed to be able to spend time and take photos of the sweet family.

Amy, I truly saw the love in your eyes for Kody. While I know it will absolutely stink for his dad, siblings, and stepmom, I know that you've gained a tangible creation that you are praising God for each moment...and...that you've missed crazily.

Nothing can break the bonds of love. Not distance. Not other's. Not jealousy. Not bad weather. Not death.

Even if Kody decides to go back to Florida in the future, your love will not die...it carries on like a sweet mama bird flying the miles to take her babies nourishment.

I love you Amy. I love you Mama.

Snow in Bethlehem

birds on a wire would like to wish you a blessed Christmas. Thank you for making our life a lot brighter.

Snow in Bethlehem
By Maya Angelou

Thunder rumbles in the mountain passes
And lightning rattles the eaves of our houses.
Flood waters await us in our avenues.

Snow falls upon snow, falls upon snow to avalanche
Over unprotected villages.
The sky slips low and grey and threatening.

We question ourselves.
What have we done to so affront nature?
We worry God.
Are you there? Are you there really?
Does the covenant you made with us still hold?

Into this climate of fear and apprehension, Christmas enters,
Streaming lights of joy, ringing bells of hope
And singing carols of forgiveness high up in the bright air.
The world is encouraged to come away from rancor,
Come the way of friendship.

It is the Glad Season.
Thunder ebbs to silence and lightning sleeps quietly in the corner.
Flood waters recede into memory.
Snow becomes a yielding cushion to aid us
As we make our way to higher ground.

Hope is born again in the faces of children
It rides on the shoulders of our aged as they walk into their sunsets.
Hope spreads around the earth. Brightening all things,
Even hate which crouches breeding in dark corridors.

In our joy, we think we hear a whisper.
At first it is too soft. Then only half heard.
We listen carefully as it gathers strength.
We hear a sweetness.
The word is Peace.
It is loud now. It is louder.
Louder than the explosion of bombs.

We tremble at the sound. We are thrilled by its presence.
It is what we have hungered for.
Not just the absence of war. But, true Peace.
A harmony of spirit, a comfort of courtesies.
Security for our beloveds and their beloveds.

We clap hands and welcome the Peace of Christmas.
We beckon this good season to wait a while with us.
We, Baptist and Buddhist, Methodist and Muslim, say come.
Peace.

Come and fill us and our world with your majesty.
We, the Jew and the Jainist, the Catholic and the Confucian,
implore you to stay awhile with us
so we may learn by your shimmering light
how to look beyond complexion and see community.

It is Christmas time, a halting of hate time.
On this platform of peace, we can create a language
to translate ourselves to ourselves and to each other.
At this Holy Instant, we celebrate the Birth of Jesus Christ

Into the great religions of the world.
We jubilate the precious advent of trust.
We shout with glorious tongues the coming of hope.
All the earth’s tribes loosen their voices to celebrate the promise of
Peace.

We, Angels and Mortals, Believers and Nonbelievers,
Look heavenward and speak the word aloud.
Peace.

We look at our world and speak the word aloud.
Peace.

We look at each other, then into ourselves,
And we say without shyness or apology or hesitation:

Peace, My Brother.
Peace, My Sister.
Peace, My Soul

FAITH in Action...

So, we realize it's been a while since we've blogged... EEK! We're promising to do better... We recently had the honor of photogging our friend and pastor's newly expanded family...

The journey they have been on in the last year has been one of sacrifice, obedience, faith (when they absolutely could not see how things would work out), and reward, because they believed what God says.. "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up..." Galatians 6:9

Faith isn't always fun... and, it isn't always easy... but, it is always worth it, whether the rewards are earthly or eternal. This blog is to introduce you to the newest Thrower member.. Nora Hazel, but more than that, it's to give God glory for a family whose faith walk has been louder than their faith talk. Only You, God can make a way where there is none. So now... how about we introduce you to part of their reward?

Sweet little Nora Hazel, born September 28th, weighing in at 7.2 :) What a little love!!

We happen to think she is wayyyy too cute for description :)

Yet her cuteness doesn't take away from big brother Jude's adorable-ness ONE bit!!

Welcome to the world, Nora Hazel. You were loved long before you were known...
We love you, Throwers and are thankful to call you our friends and pastors. Your faith in action is indeed, a beautiful thing...

Pom Poms and Lemon Cupcakes

There are times of joy, times of sorrow, times of disagreements, and times of CRAFTING! I invited Casi and Eva over to assist in assembling pom pom’s. Not the kind you cheer with, the one’s your decorate with for baby showers, weddings, my CAR…just kidding. But, I would really hang mini pom’s because that is how much I’m in love with these creations.

It starts out with tissue paper, scissors, floral wire, pencil/bone folder tool (or in my case, a copy of Great Expectations), patience, & lemon cupcakes. The last 2 items are not a necessity, but it makes for a better outcome…trust me.

You also need something called an “Eva”. Now, you may not have an “Eva”, but BOAW happens to be blessed enough to have one. An “Eva” is a fantastically witty, crafty, cute, vivacious engine of nonstop ideas, technique, and pure magic. See her magical pointing picture below? That’s an “Eva” in motion*…working*…teaching*…being crafty. (* Indicates to use jazz hands). Our “Eva” also happens to come with a bonus ability.

She makes fabulous lemon cupcakes that reside in THE cutest ever damask cupcake liners. Our “Eva” is camera shy, but we captured her in her happy place -twisting floral wire.

Finis!

and then there were two...

Sometimes God decides to really show out... and He blesses us with two darlings at once... Crystal and I got to experience two of His precious creations Friday evening with Will and Ava... They were SO much fun... two precious little souls that captured our hearts so quickly!!! They were full of smiles and curiosity and love and spontaneity... all the things that make life grand. Such a joy to meet them for the first time and the bonus was getting to see their mom, Jennifer... doing something I now know she was born to do... such a sweet mama is she!!! This is the stuff life is about... and, birdsonawirephotography.com had the honor of being part of it for a couple of hours... :)
